here's what triggered my annoyance ('twas posted in interfaith_talk) :
FOX Fan wants to know YOUR opinion on the hottest issues.:
Honoring a Wiccan Warrior
Nevada National Guard Sgt. Patrick Stewart was killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan in September 2005. Now, his widow wants to honor his sacrifice with a plaque on a military memorial wall. But the Department of Veterans' Affairs does not recognize the Wiccan religion, which Stewart practiced, and will not allow the symbol of his religion to be included on the plaque. Is this religious discrimination? Watch the video and tell us whether you give the DVA's decision an Up or Down vote.
In a 30 second news clip my blood pressure rocketed. Apparently I've been doing this wiccan thing ALL WRONG. We're apparently supposed to worry that the pentacle is seen as a "symbol of Satanism and Witchcraft" Wow, and now here I thought that Wiccans practiced witchcraft! Apparently though it's offensive to imply that!
No not all witches are wiccans and I get how they get irritated when they're jammed in the same group as us, but clearly wiccans ARE witches. It's a base of our religion and I'm sick to death of these fluffly motherfuckers degrading my beliefs to try and make wicca socially acceptable to grandma.
"Oooh, the scary christians might judge us and we should gain their respect!" 'Cause god knows that all the other religions out there are perfectly willing to sacrifice parts of thier beliefs just because they're not popular or don't make sense to everyone. That's why Jewish people eat pork and the Catholic church just loves to marry gay couples. Oh wait, that's not happening. And who ever gained anyones respect by acting unsure of themselves and compromising their morals?
As for the Satanist thing, well I don't give one shite if they use pentacles, more power to 'em, it's a damn pretty symbol.
